Webinar: Minimizing Rejects and Part Variation with DECOUPLED MOLDINGSM
Process Control Strategies
The most successful injection molders today ship only the highest quality, defect free parts,
on time, and at the lowest cost, while minimizing the number of reject parts produced.
Understanding the root causes of variation that causes quality to suffer is paramount to
establishing an optimum processing strategy.
During this webinar we will:
-
Discuss the root causes of pressure variations that cause many different defects, and how
the molding system acts as an Amplifier of process variation.
-
Learn how to quantify the pressure variations in the molding system and monitor them over time.
-
Review the different DECOUPLED MOLDINGSM classifications and understand how they can
be implemented to minimize the effect of normal process variations.
-
Know what molding machine capabilities are important for successful implementation of the
different DECOUPLED MOLDINGSM strategies and how to test for these capabilities.

An Eye Opener...
"RJG came in to do an eDART demonstration on one of our machines. We had cavity pressure sensors in the mold so they set it up to monitor the conditions overnight. At the time we were doing 100% visual inspection. The next day the RJG sales guy took a quick look at the data the eDART had collected and informed us that we had made 4 short shots during the night. When we questioned our inspectors they claimed that no bad parts had been made and all parts were boxed up and ready to be shipped to our customer. I said that there must be a glitch with the system and refused to reinspect the parts. Not long after I received a call from that customer complaining about some bad parts he received. He followed it up with an email that included a photograph of 4 short shots that came in from that shipment. We all agreed that it wasn't a coincidence."
Ralph got an RJG polo shirt for sharing this story with us. Do you have a story where RJG has opened your eyes to a problem you didn't realize was happening? Email us your story - it can be posted anonymously if you prefer.
RJG Partners with the
University of Wisconsin Stout
RJG has partnered with University of Wisconsin Stout as a location to hold public training
events in the Upper Midwest. UW Stout and RJG were introduced through Phillips Plastics
Corporation and we have continued to further develop our relationship. Students can take
advantage of the equipment that RJG will be putting in their lab. Also the University has
offered to host some public seminars for RJG. This relationship has some great benefits
for both parties involved.
RJG and UW Stout have hosted one RJG public seminar event to date which was very successful.
We are currently working together to bring more training to the university in an effort
to offer more regionally located classes. We are just starting to place equipment
in their lab and this will be up and running in very short order.
RJG would like to thank Phillips Plastics Corporation for the introduction to this partnership.
We would also like to thank the university for being a great partner and we look forward to
working together.
New addition at RJG SEA
RJG's office in Singapore is pleased to announce the addition of Kevin Zou to it's staff. Kevin lives in Chengdu, China, and will be working to support our customers in the China market. Kevin will be participating in RJG's Master Molder I and Master Molder II courses this coming summer, and we expect him to be a certified trainer by year end. Kevin has past experience with eDART System networking and cavity pressure sensor technology, and we are happy to have him on board.
