Temperature is critical to the manufacture of many parts - especially those made with semi-crystalline materials and those that have tight dimensional tolerances. What's more, changes in cycle time or a break in the cycle time can dramatically impact thermodynamic stability.

Installation of a temperature sensor can help you diagnose problems, and prevent the shipment of imperfect parts. –

    RJG’s Press-Fit Cavity Temperature Sensor

    Download the Manual
RJG’s new Press-Fit Cavity Temperature sensors are ideal for indicating cooling, heating or hot runner control problems. The sensors can withstand cavity pressures up to 30,000 psi and in mold temperatures of up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. These new sensors work in conjunction with RJG’s eDART Process Control System to assist molders in diagnosing processing problems relating to temperature issues such as broken heater bands or blocked water channels.

Users can set alarms to ensure that the mold temperature is within specified limits. This will automatically reject parts on startup until the mold reaches the specified temperature. Alarms can also be set to capture possible changes in melt temperature.

The best use of temperature sensors for control is with valve gates, especially when there is little or no pressure at the point you wish to actuate a gate. For example you can open a gate when the flow front just passes the gate by placing a temperature sensor there. In coining operations the eDART Process Control System can be used to tell the machine to clamp up when the material has reached a known position.

Placing sensors in different areas of the part can show problems with non-uniform cooling. The press-fit cavity temperature sensor can also be used for structural foam for large molds that need large vents.

    1.5mm Spring Loaded Temperature Sensor

    Download the Manual
The 1.5mm Spring Loaded Temperature Sensor is a miniaturized K type temperature sensor designed for application where a witness mark is to be avoided.  The TS-SL01.5-K can be mounted behind the cavity surface insuring no marks are left on the part and avoiding flash problems sometimes experienced with some materials. Its removable feature also allows for easy maintenance.
