| Why am I getting an error message when I Phindows in to an eDART™? |
|
Phindows - Accessing Phindows
The non-existant IP address after "Accessing" probably means they left a space after the -t switch in the Phindows shortcut or put in the -t switch but no IP address at all.
This might happen with an invalid IP address (e.g. In addition to the two top lines the dialog box "Unable to connect to IP Address" pops up very quickly.
Phindows - Accessing ipaddress
1. If nothing follows after this, the IP address cannot be found. 2. If it comes back after a "long" time (say 1 minute), there is no computer on the net with that IP or your subnet will not allow you to access that IP. 3. If it comes back quickly, there is a computer with that IP, but it is not aneDART.
Phindows - Connection Error 89
1. Phindows found an eDART at this IP address, but that eDART could not find the node number specified with the -n switch. Either the node does not exist or someone has done a "Shutdown" on it and never powered down and back up again. 2. The computer's IP address does not match the eDART's IP address. Make sure that the customer knows that the two IP addresses must match. This can be done in the eDART Software or on the computer that is attempting to access theeDART.
How do I change the eDART's IP address? How do I change the IP address of the computer?
Connection Error 19 1. This turned up when the Photon Windows Manager was not yet up on a re-booting eDART. 2. What this means to the customer is that he needs to wait a little longer before Phindowsing in.
Customer gets the "QNX Photon Login" graphic window They probably left off the -n switch or put a space between the -n and the node number. |

| Why can't my eDART Locator see my eDART™? (Part 2) |
|
Problem: Sometimes eDARTs don't show up in eDART Locator. Solution: Verify connectivity between eDART and PC: 1. Try pinging the eDART from the PC 2. Try pinging the PC from the eDART 3. Verify the network cable is good 4. If using Windows XP Service Pack 2, ensure firewall is either off or configured foreDART Locator traffic to get through 5. Ensure that any wireless network card is disabled 6. Ensure that the subnet mask of the eDART and PC match (i.e. 255.255.0.0) 7. Try creating a manual Phindows shortcut 8. Verify that the eDART software is running on the eDART (i.e. "Searching for Sensors" screen is visible)...if someone types "stop" at a shell, then the eDARTdoesn't broadcast itself to eDART Locator. |
|
| Why cannot I configure Windows XP Service Pack 2’s firewall to allow eDART Locator to work? |
|
Problem: Computers with Windows XP Service Pack 2 installed can launcheDART Locator, but no eDARTs show up. Network connectivity has been verified to be OK; a manually-configured Phindows shortcut can access theeDART(s).
Solution: Windows XP Service Pack 2 installs a firewall by default, and the broadcasts from the eDARTs don't get through to eDART Locator.
1. Close eDART Locator 2. Click Start 3. Click Settings 4. Click Control Panel 5. Double-click Network Connections
Note: if the firewall is active, the icon will look like this:
6. Right-click Local Area Connection 7. Choose Properties 8. Click the Advanced tab 9. Click Settings 10. Click Exceptions 11. Click Add Program 12. Click Browse 13. Click the drop-down box and click the C drive 14. Double-click Program Files 15. Double-click RJG Insight 16. Double-click Accessories 17. Double-click LaunchIT (may show up as launchit.exe) 18. Click OK, then OK, then OK (this should close all windows) 19. Start eDART Locator. All eDARTs should show up now. The firewall can be turned off if desired, but this isn't recommended by Microsoft.

Sensors
| Why cannot I find or add a value for my temperature sensor? |
|
Issue: Can't find temperature curves When using thermocouples, the values available when adding a new curve to the summary graph or cycle values screen will be an average value. No other measurements are available at this time. |
|
| Why does my sensor read Invalid Overrange? |
|
Lynx sensors monitor their own calibration and zero point. If the calibration or zero point changes too far in a positive direction (e.g. the sensor reports above zero with no load applied), the sensor will read Invalid Overrange indicating that the sensor is out of specification.
What can cause the sensor to read Invalid Overrange? 1. The sensor has a pre-load due to an installation error. Check the pocket dimensions and ejector pin clearance. Any radius on the bottom corners of the pocket will cause pre-load. 2. The sensor has pre-load due to an ejector pin seizing up or not moving freely. This is most common when using stationary or "dummy" pins. 3. The temperature applied to the Lynx case or sensor itself is too high. Lynx cases are rated up to 140 degrees F. The Lynx sensor body is rated up to 250 degrees F. Lynx high temperature sensors are available with a rating up to 425 degrees F. 4. Although rare, it is possible that the sensor zero point or calibration has drifted out of specification over time during normal use.
Troubleshooting 1. Remove the sensor from the tool. 2. Reattach it to the eDART. - If the sensor now reads Valid in the Raw Data Viewer, the zero shift was due to an installation error.
- If the sensor continues to read Invalid Overrange in the Raw Data Viewer, return the sensor to RJG for re-calibration. Please contact RJG at 231-947-3111 Ext. 170 for a Return Authorization number.
- Note that some installations can permanently shift the zero point or calibration.
|
|
| Why does my sensor read Invalid Underrange? |
|
Lynx sensors monitor their own calibration and zero point. If the calibration or zero point changes too far in a negative direction (e.g. the sensor reports below zero with no load applied), the sensor will report Invalid Underrange meaning the sensor is out of specification. What could cause the Invalid Underrange report? 1. The sensor has been installed upside down. The sensing nub should always be positioned up. 2. The temperature applied to the Lynx case or the sensor itself is too high. Lynx cases are rated up to 140 degrees F. The Lynx sensor body is rated up to 250 degrees F. High temperature Lynx sensors are available with a rating up to 425 degrees F. 3. Check the pocket dimensions. Any radius on the bottom corners of the pocket can cause a negative zero shift.
- If the sensor continues to read Invalid Underrange in the Raw Data Viewer, return the sensor to RJG for re-calibration. Please contact RJG at 231-947-3111 Ext. 170 for a Return Authorization number.
