RJG Hosts Forum Alongside Schools, Government to Address NC Manufacturing Staffing Issues

Wednesday, May 2

On June 7, 2018 from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm, RJG will host the first event of its kind, “Skills Gap Forum: What’s Missing from Your Workforce?” at their Gibsonville, NC training center. The purpose of this free event is to join forces with companies, schools, government officials, and economic developers from North Carolina to begin creating a resolution to the skills gap problem that is facing the injection molding industry.

Injection molding companies in the United States are finding it difficult to hire employees with the skill set needed in today’s manufacturing sector. According to a recent survey by the Manufacturing Institute, nearly 80 percent of manufacturers report a moderate to serious shortage for skilled or highly skilled production positions.

Molders will have an opportunity to share their struggles with the skills gap and work alongside educational and government professionals to build a solution from the ground up. The forum is an opportunity to have their voices heard by decision-makers across the state and make a real difference in the future of the injection molding workforce.

“Many highly skilled manufacturing employees are retiring, taking with them decades of knowledge and leaving behind a hole that cannot be easily filled,” said Marty Key, Consultant / Trainer at RJG. “Less and less graduates are turning to manufacturing careers, and our hope is to rekindle that flame. We want to show students how rewarding these jobs can be by removing the stigma that comes with the manufacturing industry and making it new and exciting again.”

RJG hopes to leave the forum with a plan to address the needs of the industry. This will be the kick-off of a long-term project to turn the manufacturing industry around in North Carolina. RJG hopes to expand this into other states if the effort is successful.

This event is limited to 25 attendees and registration is required. Lunch will be provided by RJG.
